Raul was born in Los Angeles to parents who immigrated from Jalisco, Mexico. Being a first-generation American, Raul was raised in South Central Los Angeles until he was 17 and grew up in a family of six. His parents set roots in North Long Beach and became homeowners in 1994. Raul has five children--3 boys and 2 girls, four of whom he shares with his wife of 16 years, Claudia. They also have two pets, Paris and Leo.
Raul graduated from Garfield High School in 1995. After graduation, he attended ITT Technical Institute and earned an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering of Applied Sciences in 1997. Raul also earned certification from the Automotive Collision Repair program at Cerritos College. After working in all aspects of the automotive industry, Raul decided to switch gears, and in the midst of the 2008 recession, he entered the real estate industry. Raul is a local Realtor and business owner having established Nario Land Company in 2018 and is CEO of Mr. G's General Maintenance and Repair Company in Long Beach. Currently, Raul is a Realtor at Keller Williams Pacific Estates in Cerritos.

As a 27-year resident of North Long Beach, Raul is the VP of the Starr King Neighborhood Association and has helped organize a monthly clean-up that has been ongoing for the last 4 years. He is also a Co-founder of Puente Latino Association (Puente LA), a non-profit organization based in North Long Beach. Through Puente LA, Raul has aided in organizing several community projects and events like Dia de Los Muertos, food giveaways, resource fairs, and mural collaborations with Jordan High School students and the Coalition for a Healthy North Long Beach in collaboration with Starr King Elementary. Raul's drive stems from him his upbringing-- his hard work and ethics have shaped him and led him to run for public office. Raul will be a public servant committed to working towards a better future in the near term. He understands that we don't have the luxury of time and it is essential to push for constructive dialogue that can lead to measurable progress in the short term. This is why as a business commissioner of the State Assembly's 64th District, Raul has worked alongside city and state officials to promote economic development, public safety, and healthy living to revitalize North Long Beach and surrounding cities.
